Nordic Solar initiates construction of its first solar park in Sweden

Nordic Solar initiates the construction of the company’s first solar park in Sweden. Located near Lindesberg in southern Sweden, the project has a capacity of 22 MWp, which corresponds to supplying electricity to approx. 7,000 European households. Lindesberg solar park is the first construction launched by Nordic Solar in a series of projects to be executed in collaboration with Swedish development partner Helios Nordic Energy AB. Over the coming years, Nordic Solar plans to establish solar parks in Sweden with a total capacity of several hundred MWp, with Lindesberg solar park as the first in operation. The solar park is expected to be connected to the grid in the third quarter of 2024.

Lindesberg solar park is the first solar park in Sweden that Nordic Solar has begun constructing. The new solar park in Lindesberg has a capacity of 22 MWp, which corresponds to the annual energy consumption of approx. 7,000 European households.

Nordic Solar plans to build solar parks with a total capacity of several hundred MWp in Sweden based on both the cooperation with the Swedish development partner Helios Nordic Energy AB and our own project development. Being part of Nordic Solar’s development project portfolio for the next few years, the cooperation projects with Helios Nordic Energy AB alone account for a total capacity of approx. 270 MWp. With the company’s plans to expand into the Swedish market, the construction of Lindesberg solar park is the starting point for a greater presence and energy production in southern Sweden.

Tracker system to optimise energy production

More than 31,000 solar panels will be installed in the new Swedish solar park, which occupies 44 hectares. The solar park will be established with a tracker system allowing the panels to follow the movement of the sun, which helps optimise energy production. In addition, the solar park has been designed with initiatives that will help invite biodiversity into the area.

“We have designed our new solar park in Sweden with a focus on optimising the production of renewable energy. The tracker system is the ideal solution for the area covered by the solar park and, at the same time, highly efficient. Moreover, we are collaborating with biologists from Mols Consulting, who have also contributed to developing and measuring various biodiversity-promoting initiatives in our two newest solar parks in Denmark, on the possibility of encouraging biodiversity in the area through various initiatives. We have a firm intention of combining the production of solar energy with a good framework for animal and plant life in the solar park,” says Glenn Aagesen, COO of Nordic Solar.
