Associate, Development

About the Position

We are looking for an Associate to join the Development team, in which you will play a crucial role in advancing our solar PV projects in Sweden and Germany. This position offers you the chance to make a tangible impact on our success in the Swedish and German market, providing ample opportunities for professional growth. Furthermore, the role gives you an exciting opportunity to gain invaluable experience and exposure to the solar energy industry. 

As an Associate at Nordic Solar, you will collaborate with the Development team and across the organisation to handle in-house development and co-development projects until they reach ready-to-build (RTB) status. Your primary focus will be on solar PV projects in Sweden and Germany, working closely with experienced colleagues. Additionally, the development team works on projects in Denmark, Greece, Lithuania, Portugal, Italy, Ireland and Spain, so you should expect knowledge sharing and collaboration on development projects across markets. Further to this, we are currently ramping up in-house greenfield activities, so you should expect additional project development tasks to develop with time. 

You will report directly to the Head of Development, Emma Vintefjell. The role is based in the office in Hellerup (Copenhagen).

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate project leads by collecting and reviewing project information such as permitting from different authorities, grid documentation, land agreements, and investigating the impact of decisions from authorities.
  • Evaluate project business cases and make recommendations based on return metrics.
  • Communicate project insights and recommendations effectively to support decision-making.
  • Prepare decision-making material and presentations for the management and the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare and participate in project meetings, both internally and with external stakeholders. Follow up on meeting outcomes.
  • Create and maintain data sheets, project overviews, and checklists.
  • Work closely with various stakeholders, including project managers, executives, and colleagues from the legal, EPC, project finance, and M&A teams.
  • Communicate with local authorities, stakeholders, and advisors.
  • Stay updated on solar PV trends, changes to regulations, best practices, etc. to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of development activities.

Experience

Taking on the role as an Associate, you are expected to have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, business administration, finance, or economics. Moreover, you possess 1-3 years of project work experience, preferably in the renewable energy sector. Recent graduates are also encouraged to apply if they have studied in fields related to renewables or solar energy. You should possess full professional proficiency in English. Proficiency in Swedish and/or German will be considered a valuable asset. To succeed in this role, It is imperative that you possess proficiency in numerical analysis and demonstrates competence in developing and assessing business cases. Additionally, you should exhibit adeptness in analysing extensive datasets, drawing relevant conclusions, and showcasing attention to detail. The ideal candidate should also be an experienced Microsoft 365 user, proficient in PowerPoint and Excel.
