Student Assistant in Grid Integration

About the Position

We are looking for a motivated and proactive Student Assistant to join our Electrical & Grid Integration Team, a sub-department within the Engineering Department at Nordic Solar. As a Student Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting our team with the electrical design and grid connection for our extensive solar PV and BESS pipeline throughout Europe. This is a fantastic opportunity for a student looking to gain hands-on experience and develop skills within the renewable energy sector.

Reporting to the Team Manager, Electrical & Grid Integration, this position is based in Hellerup, Denmark, with a time commitment of 15-20 hours per week (with flexibility to fit with your studies). You will work closely with our experienced engineers, learning from real projects while contributing to a variety of tasks related to electrical system design and power system simulations. This position offers plenty of room to grow, with the possibility to take on more responsibility over time. We encourage self-starters with a passion for renewable energy who can take initiative and work independently, while being part of a dynamic and supportive team.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Design the HV, MV and LV electrical systems for PV- and BESS plants, from the inverters to the grid connection point.
  • Dimension the HV, MV and LV AC cables and their connections between electrical equipment and cooperate with the PV Design Team for the cable trench design.
  • Develop simulation models of our solar PV and BESS plants in PowerFactory and PSCAD, which is required for the grid connection permits. This includes harmonic-, steady-state-, dynamic- and transient simulation models.
  • Automize the studies with simulation models and scripting to develop standardized design tools.
  • Provide technical expertise to the procurement team with technical specifications for electrical equipment and evaluate offers with regards to grid code compliance, price and quality.

What we are looking for:

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program related to power engineering.
  • Experience with power system simulation in PowerFactory and/or PSCAD.
  • Experience with programming in Python or similar coding language.
  • Knowledge of drawing electrical single line diagrams in AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A self-starter with a proactive attitude, eager to take on responsibility and learn from hands-on experience.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
