Student Assistant in PV Design Engineering

About the Position

We are looking for a motivated and proactive Student Assistant to join our PV Design team, a sub-department within the wider Engineering Department at Nordic Solar. As a Student Assistant in PV Design, you will play an important role in supporting our team with a variety of tasks related to the design and development of our extensive solar PV pipeline throughout Europe. This is a fantastic opportunity for a student looking to gain hands-on experience and develop skills within the renewable energy sector.

You will work closely with our experienced engineers, learning from real projects while contributing to critical processes such as yield assessments, technical evaluations, and document reviews. This position offers plenty of room to grow, with the possibility to take on more responsibility over time. We encourage self-starters with a passion for renewable energy who can take initiative and work independently, while being part of a dynamic and supportive team.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Assist in the preparation and review of engineering documents, including layouts, equipment specifications, and reports.
  • Support engineers in performing yield assessments at different project stages, using tools such as PVsyst.
  • Participate in project assessments, due diligence, and site evaluations to identify potential design challenges.
  • Collaborate with various departments (PV Design, Grid Integration, Civil, etc.) to ensure all deliverables meet project requirements and timelines.
  • Assist in techno-economic optimizations by helping evaluate different technical solutions for specific projects.
  • Provide technical support to non-technical teams, such as procurement, by gathering relevant information and preparing technical documentation.
  • Take part in meetings, learn from seasoned professionals, and gain insights into large-scale solar PV park development.

What we are looking for:

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program (Engineering, Renewable Energy, etc.) with an interest in solar energy.
  • Some familiarity with PVsyst is required. Knowledge of other solar-specific tools like AutoCAD or PVcase is a plus, but not necessary.
  • Strong data analysis skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A self-starter with a proactive attitude, eager to take on responsibility and learn from hands-on experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while being part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in English is required.
